  • Today’s observed as 51st death anniversary of first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru (14th November 1889 – 27th May 1964). President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders paying tributes to the country’s first Prime Minister.


  • India and Vietnam signed a Joint Vision Statement on Defence Cooperation for the period 2015-2020 in New Delhi which is an outcome of delegation level talks to discuss cooperation on maritime security. It was signed by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Vietnamese Minister for National Defence General Phung Quang Thanh. A MoU on cooperation between the Coast Guards of the two countries signed by them. Vietnamese Defence Minister is on a 3-day official visit to India. Both nations also had held delegation level talks and discussed wide ranging issues concerning defence cooperation, including cooperation in the area of maritime security.


  • Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) Price Distribution Ceremony held in Bangaluru, Karnataka occurred in which India’s off-road racer CS Santosh was presented with the Motorsport Man of the Year Award at the 2014 by Raymond Group, Gautam Singhania as the Raymond Gautam Singhania Rolling Trophy along with 2 lakh rupees.

SBI Chief Arundhati Bhattacharya, ICICI bank head Chanda Kochhar, Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and HT Media Chair Shobhana Bhartia are also one of them. This list is topped by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

  • Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) announced the complete operationalisation of the GPS Aided Geo Augmented Navigation (GAGAN) with this India has become the fourth nation after the US, Europe and Japan to have inter-operable Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS). It was jointly developed by Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to establish, deploy and certify satellite based augmentation system for safety-of-life civil aviation applications for the Indian air space.


  • Tripura government has decided to withdraw the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958 from the remaining areas of the state decided by to the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in Agartala after Police in its latest half-yearly review had found no need to extend the act any further.


  • Manabi Bandopadhyay, a transgender from West Bengal is going to takes charge of Krishnagar Women’s College in Nadia district of West Bengal on 9th June 2015. She is become the first third gender principal in India.


  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Doordarshan’s farmer-centric channel named DD Kisan. The 24X7 channel is owned by public service broadcaster Doordarshan (DD) and is dedicated to agriculture and allied sectors and share information on farmer-related issues under the genre Infotainment (Hindi). It carry channel making it mandatory for every cable and Direct to Home (DTH) operators to provide DD Kisan to their subscribers. DD Kisan will disseminate real-time inputs to farmers on new farming techniques, water conservation and organic farming.
