The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is the body that is responsible for recruiting and selecting new employees for government banks, public sector organisations, public sector insurance companies, and many other government institutes. (List of Banks participating in the IBPS) To conduct the IBPS Clerk recruitment process, the IBPS conducts a Common Written Exam (CWE) Clerk. IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2017: IBPS Clerk Exam Details

The IBPS Clerk Recruitment for 2017 will be conducted according to the Official IBPS Clerk Notification 2017.

The notification states that the IBPS Clerk exam 2017 will be an online exam. The exam will be conducted in two phases – the Preliminary Exam and the Main Exam. After both these phases are conducted and the Mains Exam results are declared, the IBPS will release a list of Provisionally Allotted candidates.


IBPS Clerk Pattern 2017

The first phase of the IBPS Clerk Exam 2017 is the Preliminary Exam or the Prelims. The IBPS Prelims Pattern has 3 sections, they are, English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability. The Prelims exam consists of a total of 100 questions, each question carrying one mark. A comprehensive time duration of one hour is allotted to complete the IBPS Clerk Prelims Exam Paper. The candidate will lose 0.25 marks in the Prelims Exam for every wrong answer that he/she attempts. However, there is no negative marking if the question is left unanswered. The second phase of the IBPS Clerk Exam 2017, is the Mains Exam. The IBPS Mains Pattern has 5 sections, they are, Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge. The IBPS Mains Exam 2017 consists of a total of 200 questions. The question paper carries 200 marks. The IBPS Clerk Mains paper has a separate timeframe for each of the sections. The candidate will lose 0.25 marks for every wrong answer that he/she attempts. There is no negative marking for questions that are not answered.

IBPS Clerk Provisional Allotment 2017

After the IBPS Clerk Mains results are declared, the IBPS prepares a list of Provisional Allotted candidates. The IBPS prepares this list depending on the number of vacancies that are available in each of the banks that are participating in the IBPS Clerk Recruitment Process for 2017. Only the candidates who score above the Mains Exam cut-offs will be considered while preparing this list. After the IBPS Clerk VII Provisional Allotment List is released, the candidates will be assessed depending on the criteria of the participating organisations. Only if the candidate fulfils the criteria of the participating organisation he/she will be selected as an IBPS Clerk.
