1. The board of Asian Development Bank has re-elected Takehiko Nakao as the President of the bank.

2. Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhu dedicated a “Rail Geet” (Railway Song) to the nation. This Geet has been composed by noted Music Director Shravan & has been sung by Udit Narayan and Kavita Krishnamurti.

3. Minister of Communications Manoj Sinha unveiled the Commemorative Postage Stamps on Rio Olympic Games.

4. Vijay Rupani will be the new Chief Minister of Gujarat and Nitin Patel will be the deputy chief minister.

5. Eminent Assamese litterateur Mahim Bora died. He was 92.

6. The Union Government has launched a campaign MAA- Mother’s Absolute Affection in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to promote breastfeeding and Bollywood Actress Madhuri Dixit has been appointed as the Ambassador for this campaign.

7. For the first time ‘Olympic award’ has been started in Rio Olympics and legendary track and field athlete and Kenya Olympic Committee (KOC) President Kipchoge Keino became the first person to receive ‘Olympic Award’.

8. Former RBI Deputy Governor Anand Sinha became the independent director of Private sector lender IDFC Bank.

9. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has elected two new vice presidents at its 129th session. Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr. of Spain and Ugur Erdener from Turkey have been chosen as the new Vice-Presidents.

10. China successfully launched its first mobile communications satellite ‘Tiantong-01’.
